It was the Count of Parma Camillo Paolo Carmignani who in 1935 founded the Adam perfume company, which until the 1980s was one of the best known and most appreciated Italian fragrance companies.
After World War II, Adam was well known for his Eau de Cologne Adam, and for the innovative Calycanthus, a feminine perfume with green notes.
A few years later Schu goes into production, a fragrance created for the tailor Emilio Schuberth.
However, the apex of notoriety will take place in the mid-70s, thanks to Eau De Bruyere, who will trace the path towards a new conception of men's perfume.
Eau de Bruyere is a revolutionary perfume, with dry, dark notes, bitter herbs, tobacco and leather.
A preview of what will be dark fragrances in the following years, such as, to name a few, Lèonard pour Homme, Salvador Dalì, Van Cleef et Arpels pour Homme and others.
This perfume was truly original not only for the fragrance but also for the packaging; the bottle with an unusual shape is remembered with the name abat-jour.
Adam went out of business around 1985.
Adam perfumes are unique, because they have been designed and created to last over time and this can already be seen from the packaging.
The Adam boxes contain a thick layer of polystyrene inside which, in addition to cushioning any blows, keeps the bottle well insulated from thermal shocks.
Thanks to this shrewdness (almost unique in all perfumery), Adam fragrances have arrived to the present day in excellent condition, if you think that in some cases they exceed half a century from production.
The history of Adam of Parma is a history made not only of quality, but also of refinement, innovation and elegance;
all qualities that could be found in its founder Camillo Paolo Carmignani.
This is a beautiful story, which like all good stories are destined to end, but the Adam story did not end in 1985 and did not end today, it will only end when we stop talking about it.
On SCENTX you can find many adam vintage perfumes and take home a piece of history of Italian perfumery.
